Poljot: The Aurora Cricket

The journey to collect Poljot with Cyrillic font is always challenging but surprising, since they are much harder to hunt than the export version, I am pretty lucky to come across this timepiece, which is now considered as one of top grail in my Poljot collection.

This Poljot Alarm watch (Cricket) has dark silver metallic + sunburst texture dial, which was never seen in any of Poljot watch design. The Poljot word in Cyrilic font "ПОЛЕТ" indicates that this watch is made for local market instead of export. The indices on the dial are unique as well, with embossed V shape at 12 hour position and embossed dash for 3, 6, 9 hour positions, whereby the rest of hour indices with the 15 minutes scale alarm indicator, and the Poljot Cyrillic logo are printed in white color on the dark silver dial.

The minute hand, hour hand and alarm setting hand (with arrow) are in gold color, which matches the embossed indices in gold color (interestingly it looks copper color in dim light). The hands set are not rare but I have never seen gold alarm setting hand with black arrow in any of Signal / Poljot Alarm watch. The second hand is in dark black color so over all the entire design is in great contrast so it won't be too hard to read the time.

The dial is always shimmering and reflecting the color around it (like a mirror glass). As it has the sunburst texture, it kind of generating special effects when the watch is placed in different positions under different lights, for example in day light it looks like having highly glossy surface but in dim light it seems to have black matte surface.

As the dial seems to reflecting different color spectrums in the dark (because of dark silver dial), I name the watch as Aurora Cricket.

Enough words, let the photos do the talkings ...

As for the mechanical movement (I know most of collectors are movement centric), the Poljot 2612 (or 2612.1 first class movement) were developed based on A.Schild movement - AS1475. You can find more information about it in the following links -

The Signal / Poljot alarm movement is never rare, it was produced for decades until the end of Poljot watch factory.
