Raketa: Sputnik Travel Bureau

I like graphical dial watches, they always have story to tell, and the main reason why Raketa is always on top of my list comparing to other Pre / Post Soviet watches. I always believe that curiosity is what making me alive and kicking ;)

I have seen several watches with such logo. So the question is, what is the logo about?

In 1958, the Sputnik Bureau of International Youth Tourism (BMMT) was created for communications, tourist exchange, cooperation with foreign partners - firms of youth unions of the world’s states. The resolution of the VLKSM Central Committee "On the organization of tourist exchange with foreign youth organizations" was designed to expand political the cultural ties of Soviet youth with the youth of capitalist countries, the creation of favorable conditions for the dissemination of truthful information about the life of the Soviet people.
In the year of its creation, Sputnik cooperates with 16 organizations from 8 European countries, has 19 large youth camps. Its first divisions: Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev departments and international youth camps in Gurzuf and Sochi receive 1574 young foreign tourists. 1364 Soviet boys and girls go abroad.
